CyberSafety and Bullying Presentation

Recently, Candise Adams from Safe Counselling Australia presented to parents of Middle School students about the dangers our children face in their everyday use of the internet. Her presentation focused on the dangers presented by unknown people as well as how to deal with Cyberbullying; from both the perspective of the bully and the victim.

The issues raised in the presentation are very relevant to the school context with so many of our students still learning how to use the internet safely and effectively. Many parents in attendance shared their own stories and offered some very valuable insights into their experiences with their own children. Parents were also given a handout which can be found here.

Candise presents to our students twice during their time in Middle School; once during Year 7 and once during Year 8. Those presentations have been invaluable in teaching students how to stay safe online and what to do if they are faced with any of the myriad difficulties that can arise from their interactions on the internet.
