Netball

On Friday the 29 of October a group of year sevens went to Noranda Netball Centre to compete in the year 7 lightning carnival. The experience was very enjoyable. Some of the team had big wins and others not so much but all-round it was a great day with great opportunities. We walked out having one team win overall in their division. Thank you to all the wonderful and caring teachers and staff who made that day so full of spirit and excitement, we appreciate all the hard work that people put into making that day possible.

Soccer

The lightning carnival took place on Friday the 29th of October, which was when we played soccer. Our school had three different teams, there were 12 different schools in total. In our team there was Olivia , Jazmin , Emily , Kayla , Cleo , Latesha , and Dalila . Emily probably scored the most goals during the games and Kayla was the goalie most of the day. We played 11 games, we won 6, lost 4 and tied 1. In the end Hampton SHS won and by astonishingly only getting around 5 goals scored against them throughout the whole day. When we were sorted into our group in the morning, we headed out the back of the school gym to get on the bus, as we got there we went to where everyone was warming up with all the equipment. We started playing our first few games and got the hang of it after a while. Overall, it was lots of fun and we all had a great time.

Floorball

On the 29th of October a large group of year 7s participated in 10 rounds of floorball in their teams against other teams from John Forest, Averley, Morley, Hampton, Eastern Hills, Governor Sterling, and Ellenbrook. Each Team had around 10 players made up of girls, boys, and others. Mount Lawley's teams played their best and managed to get 1st and 3rd. Everyone seemed to be happy about the outcome as they had fun having a break from school to play floorball for the day.

Basketball

On the 29th of October, a group of children when to a girls' basketball tournament in Morley to compete in a series of 6 games. There were 3 Mount Lawley teams one in division 1 and two in division 2. there was a genuinely nice canteen. At the start we got I to our teams and did a couple of drills before the games started. We learnt our coach's names as there were the volunteers from your10. The games were fun, and we all enjoyed it very much.

Sophie | Year 7 Student

Cricket

At the start of the day, we arrived at Hamer and started our first game playing Hampton. We thrashed them in on our first game winning 156 to 100 runs. We then played John Forrest which was a closer game. We also thrashed them in our 2nd game. On the 3rd game, it was a derby playing the other Mount Lawley team. We had won 2 games winning that one as well making our spot in our finals. John forest clashed between Hampton for the spot in the finals playing our team. Hampton won that close game playing us in the finals. It wasn't our best game in the Grand Final but we tried hard. We then packed everything up and called out the standings. In 4th place was Mount Lawley, in 3rd place is John Forest, in second place was us and in 1st were Hampton in a lucky win.
