Congratulations to Ben in Year 12 for winning the Mindscapes Youth Art Awards for 2021 for his amazing piece On the train. His work was described by the judges as being "Superbly executed - with an expert choice of colour, light and shadow". The whole exhibition was inspirational and Ben's work stood out in a competition that included art students from 21 different schools.
The competition, promoted by Contemporary Australian Surrealists Movement (C.A.S.M.), was open to students aged 14-18 and entrants were asked to create an original painting or drawing using oil, acrylic, pastel or drawing medium that explored the genres of surrealism and fantasy. The awards ceremony itself was held at the Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery in Fremantle on Sunday 17th October.
