Korean Culture Festival
On Thursday, 23rd of June, the Korean Culture Centre in Sydney hosted a Korean festival, Ride the Korean Wave, at Mount Lawley Senior High School.
The purpose of this event was to promote Korean language and the culture in the Mount Lawley School Community.
The School and the Culture Centre were working closely for eight weeks before the event, and students thoroughly enjoyed every activity that was prepared for them.
The festival opening ceremony started with a K-pop performance which was extremely popular among male students.
After the fantastic K-pop performance, students had the opportunity to watch a video presentation of Korea.
The presentation enlightened our students about how financially and economically significant Korea is to Australia.
They also realised what an exciting place Korea would be to visit.
The opening ceremony was closed with a dynamic Taekwondo performance, and everyone couldn’t take their eyes off the martial performance as it was very very spectacular.
The Korean Culture Centre in Sydney prepared well balanced traditional and modern Korean cultural activities for our students.
These included a K-pop dance session, Traditional Korean shoe making session, Korean Gimbap (Korean Sushi) session and a Korean drum session.
All students had the opportunity to participate in two activities to learn about Korean culture.
The event was a great success, and it will be remembered as a culturally enriching and enjoyable event in their school life.
