Carols on the Lawley Lawn & Celebrating 60
Many thanks to all of our volunteers who helped make last Friday's Carols on the Lawley Lawn, and Our 60th Anniversary BBQ, such a success.
Friday night also saw alumni from the last 60 years returning to the school to have a look.
The school has changed a lot with the rebuild that started in 2003, but there was still plenty of memories for those who joined the school tours which took in both 'the old' and 'the new' of the school.
We also screened the school's 'Lawley 60' film, a look back on the school's history from the perspective of our students.
For Carols on the Lawley Lawn, it was a beautiful night, and a magnificent sunset, with fantastic music from our Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band, and the carols sung wonderfully by the Mount Lawley Primary & Senior High School Choirs.
There was an abrupt end, when our last two songs were unfortunately cut short as it started to rain, and the instruments had to get under cover.
It also meant that we missed an opportunity to say our thank you's.
Great thanks to the Music Staff at Mount Lawley SHS, particularly Michelle De Rozario, for preparing our musicians and singers.
Thanks to Judith Walpole, the Music Specialist at Mount Lawley Primary for her work with the Primary School choir.
There were a number of our students who helped out on the night, notably our Head Boy & Girl as MC's, and our Middle & Senior School House Captains and Vice Captains, who did everything from setting up equipment and handing out programs, to running painting activities, helping with the School Tours and acting as Santa's reindeer.
Thanks to the students from the Aboriginal Excellence Program for their face painting.
Thanks to the Bush Ranger Cadets for running the BBQ's - a mammoth effort - and ably led by Kevin Fletcher and Janet O'Brien from Community One.
Thanks also to Warren Daniel (past student & staff member) for running our school tours, and other duties which made the best use of his long white beard.
Behind the scenes thanks must go to Sue Faranda, for preparing the programs and her photography skills, Neil Hudson for picking up equipment and food, and locking up, and our planning team, of Suzie Barnes, Alice Basini, Chris Manning and Michelle De Rozario.
And most of all, a big thanks for all of the parents, friends, family, and alumni who joined us.
Carols on the Lawley Lawn returns on the first Friday in December 2016.
