69th Anniversary Ceremony War Widows Guild of Australia (WA)
Our Head G irl and two Councillors went to Kings Park for 69th Anniversary Ceremony War Widows Guild of Australia (WA), on Monday 23rd November.
The Guild donated to the school a copy of the book 'Many Hearts, One Voice', which was written by Melinda Tognini (Fremantle Press Publication) about the story of the War Widow Guild in WA. Copies can be obtained from the Guild 9371 7470
The Guild motto
"We all belong to each other
We all need each other
It is in serving each other
And in sacrificing for our common good
That we are finding our true life.
There were war widows representing the fallen from WWI, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Malay/Borneo and Afghanistan from the Guild who laid wreaths and then followed by other widows who laid a poppy in remembrance of their loved ones.
Attendee of the service were many dignitaries, the Governor of Western Australia Her Excellency Kerry Sanderson AO who the students were photographed with.
Students assisted at the ceremony by giving out the programs and poppies to visitors and laid a wreath on behalf of the school.
After the ceremony the students were invited to lunch at the War Widows Guild office at the Marjorie Le Souef Centre in Menora.
