Janet Holmes a Court Speaks at our High Achievers Breakfast
On Tuesday morning we invited 80 high achieving Year 12 ATAR and VET students and their teachers to breakfast.
The breakfast is a way of acknowledging the student's success and to encourage them to keep up their efforts.
Mrs Janet Holmes a Court AC, spoke to the invited guests about her journey - from school, to university, back to school as a teacher and then on to business and volunteering.
Mrs Holmes a Court is a member of various boards - both in business and the Arts and she emphasised the opportunities that being involved in a voluntary capacity brings.
Her talk was down to earth and inspiring and filled with anecdotes to which many teachers could relate.
One of our student, Brandon, presented Mrs Holmes a Court with an original manipulation, "One Giant Leap for Mankind", as a thank you.
The manipulation was part of Brandon's Cert II in Visual Arts project work.
We then adjourned to the Foods Room where the Year 11 and Year 12 Hospitality students had prepared a fantastic breakfast.
All who attended were once again, very impressed by the variety of the restaurant quality food.
The Home Economics Department continues to produce an amazing selection of delicious food, which showcases the talents of both the teaching staff and their students.
A huge thank you to all of the staff involved: Laraine Smart, Josee Baljic, Joanne Smit, Natalie Ter Horst and Rhonda Keelan.
Please acknowledge the achievements of the students who were invited, the Cert II Hospitality students and their teachers, who all contributed to a wonderful celebration of students and their success.
