Olympic Lifting Sessions for Senior School
This week Luke Dimasi from Conan Fitness, started an after school training program of olympic lifting.
The program uses these lifts to teach students the importance of correct movement patterns in sport and everyday life.
Something as simple as the basic body movements that impact sports performance as well as general quality of life are very much overlooked and under valued in modern sporting practices.
The main areas of focus for the program are:
- teaching the correct movement patterns for the major body movements,
- looking at postural and anatomical imbalances
- teaching what to look out for in differences between athletes/students
- incorporating the power lifts and Olympic lifts into other sports applications (effective building blocks for strength/power/speed).
Students from years 11 and 12 are encouraged to attend these sessions.
