Computing at Lawley in 2014

Mount Lawley SHS provides student access to its computer network through a combination of notebooks and classroom laboratories with appropriate learning software.

In response to a number of enquiries regarding a "Bring Your Own Computer" to school model, the school would like to clarify the following:

  • Currently, the school is committed to providing a school funded notebook to Year 10, 11 and 12 students as part of the final stage of the previous NCSSF computer funding model. This will be the situation for 2014.
  • In 2014, Year 8 and 9 students will have access to the banks of computers located in the Middle School and will not need an individual computing device in the classroom.
  • Computer laboratories within the school will continue to be maintained for specialist areas such as Computing, Design and Technology, Media, Music, Business and Photography.

To ensure future access to electronic communication and information the school is currently assessing the impact of a Parent Funded Computer model and is looking carefully at all aspects of the process.

In undertaking such a model, parents will be kept informed of the options and be provided with tangible steps to move toward systemic change.
