Our Cadets Return From the Storm
For the third time in recent years, our Cadet Unit has been on camp when a large storm has struck the south-west.
The Cadets arrived back safely on Tuesday afternoon after confronting torrential rain and high winds at their campsite north east of Perth, at a place called Camel Soak next to Rabbit Proof Fence #2.
The heavy rain made the dirt roads challenging, and restricted our movements during camp, and the rain was always there, but it was the winds that proved the most difficult, as they tried to pull apart our 'Big Tarp' shelters. It was only with constant vigilancea and endless adjustments that we were able to keep them from flying away.
With shelter from the weather, our hand turned to the culinary arts, and we experimented with Italian cooking, re-creating our now legendary Karijini Meatballs from Miss Tempone's secret recipie.
For all of the difficulties, all of the Cadets (some of whom were on their first camp) handled the camp in great spirit, always ready to help out. Well done to you all.
Great thanks also to Mr Dubois (MS S&E) and Ms Patterson (SS English) for their assistance in making the camp such a success.
