Karijini Trip

Situated in the Pilbara, almost 2 days drive north of Perth. We camp in Dale's Campground, enjoying the swimming and bushwalking opportunities, as well as the magnificent gorges at Dale's and Weano. We usually connect this trip with a visit to the Ningaloo Reef near Exmouth.

The 2012 Karijini-Ningaloo Trip

This year cadets were given the opportunity to attend a 10 day camp, we were taken to Karijini National Park, Cape Range National Park, and the Natural World Heritage Listed areas of Ningaloo Reef and Shark Bay.

Karijini National Park was a mind blowing experience. With red dirt and endless blue skies, we spent days walking though gorges and swimming under waterfallls. We met Ranger Dan who took us on a scenic walk through the amazing Dale's Gorge where we cut over hanging branches and constructed a bridge over a muddy path. We saw ancient aboriginal painting's and swam in the freezing cold cirular pool where nic was attacked by a mammoth leach!

Ningaloo Reef was a gorgeous place to visit, blue seas and warm days made the experience unforgettable. We went snorkling in around the reef , traveling in style by a glass bottom boat. Alec (the tour guide) was a very charismatic guy, cracking jokes and making our day out on the sea wonderful. We played specky ball and keepy off in turquoise bay where the fish swam at our feet.

At Monkey Mia we did many wonderful activities, including the shotover boat cruise on which we observed various sea animals, like dolphins and mantarays. We also went 4WD with andrew the chapain and ms tempone one of the senior school PE teachers , it was an intersesting expirience for everyone that was in Ms T's car. We got bogged once but lucky we had amazing Andrew to push the car out!!!!

It was a fantastic experience, that none of us will ever forget. and it would be possible without the dedicated organizing of Miss Tempone, Mr Hawke, Miss Ozoling, Mr Dubois and of cause Andrew the Chaplain, who once again has created a awesome camp!!! Thank you.
