Peter Sparbier Perpetual Mathematics Scholarship (Year 11)
Valued at $2,000
Peter Sparbier was a respected Mathematics Teacher at Mount Lawley Senior High School in the 1990s. Peter was passionate about mathematics and mathematics education. He passed away in January 2007 and in his estate he bequeathed a sum of money to establish a perpetual scholarship for a Year 11 student to pursue his/her studies of mathematics to the highest levels. The Scholarship is presented annually to an eligible Year 10 student for mathematics studies in Year 11 and 12.
Anne Griffiths Scholarshipfor Vocational Education & Training (Year 11)

Mrs Anne Griffiths retired in 2009 as the Education Policy Officer for the Western Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WACCI). She had an intense interest in Vocational Education and Training and was instrumental in establishing and sustaining a range of programs that engaged young people in school-based programs that articulated to further training and employment. Mrs Griffiths served on a number of boards of agencies, networks and alliances that managed programs benefitting students.
Mrs Griffiths served for many years on the School Council of Mount Lawley SHS as a community member. She brought to the deliberations of Council her deep breadth of knowledge in Vocational Education and Training, an intense interest in the development of young people and a passion for preparing students for a successful future.
Mrs Griffiths gave much to Mount Lawley SHS despite not being a parent of the school or a local resident. She is an exemplar of commitment and voluntary service.
The scholarship is tenable to a student undertaking a recognised program that is focused on training and work place learning (WPL). A student awarded the scholarship must be enrolled in an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate course and a WPL course or endorsed program. If a student withdraws from one or both components, the scholarship is forfeited.
The student awarded the scholarship will be expected to maintain high standards of behaviour, attend school, training and work regularly and achieve acceptable results.
Science Scholarships (one in each of Years 8, 10 and 11)

In accordance with the school's Values and focus on academic excellence, a scholarship is offered to students entering Years 8, 10 and 11 in 2011. To be awarded the Year 11 scholarship, a student must be enrolled in at least one senior secondary Science Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) course.The students awarded one of the scholarships will be expected to maintain high standards of behaviour, attend school regularly and achieve acceptable results.

Michael Sutherland, MLA Scholarship f or Humanities (Years 8 and 11)
Valued at $100
Mr Michael Sutherland, MLA the member for Mount Lawley was the Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Perth and a solicitor prior to entering State Parliament in 2008. Mr Sutherland was a teacher of Humanities in South Africa prior to studying law. He has a great interest in law, history and civics. He wishes to offer a scholarship in the area of humanities.
In accordance with the school's Values and focus on academic excellence, a scholarship is offered to students entering Years 8 and 11 in 2011.
To be awarded the Year 11 scholarship, a student must be enrolled in at least one senior secondary Society and Environment Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) course.
The students awarded one of the scholarships will be expected to maintain high standards of behaviour, attend school regularly and achieve acceptable results.
