Upper School – Years 9 & 10
At Mount Lawley Senior High School, the Upper School prepares students for success in Senior School by developing independence, responsibility, and the skills required to pursue their future pathways.
Our programs and support structures ensure students leave Upper School confident, capable, and ready to make informed choices about their education and career goals.
Our Upper School Approach
The Upper School experience focuses on three key areas:
Career Exploration
Students are guided to explore career pathways, build a personal portfolio, and set goals that align with their strengths and aspirations. This ensures a purposeful transition into Senior School courses and beyond.
Developing Independence & Study Skills
We support students to develop self-discipline, organisation, time management, and study strategies, building habits that are essential for success in Years 11 and 12.
Growing Responsible, Resilient Young Adults
Through mentoring and structured guidance, students learn accountability, resilience, and empathy. They are encouraged to become responsible, caring citizens who are equipped to manage the pressures of school and life beyond.
Course Selection & Curriculum
Upper School students select courses aligned with their interests, strengths and future pathways.
- Year 8 → Year 9 Electives: start of Term 2
- Year 9 → Year 10 Electives: mid-Term 2
- Year 10 → Senior School Courses: end of Term 2
Students and families are supported throughout this process by teachers and Year Coordinators.
