The Mount Lawley Senior High School Specialist Visual and Performing Arts (SVAPA) program is a unique three-year course. Led by specialist teachers, it provides immersion and extension in the Arts, with a focus on connections within disciplines.
Since its inception, SVAPA has grown into a highly esteemed and respected program with an emphasis on participating in contemporary and emerging Arts practice. Our aim is to empower students with the skills and disposition to achieve success in their chosen career pathways beyond school.
The program was designed to meet the needs of creative individuals who could benefit from an Arts education surrounded by like-minded peers. SVAPA provides an educational journey through which students learn how to develop ideas, interpersonal skills, processes, creative and critical thinking.
SVAPA students receive a differentiated curriculum within the Arts, alongside the core subjects of Maths, English, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science. They also have access to Digital Technology, Design and Technologies, Languages, Health and Physical Education programs.
Selection takes place in Year 6 across Music, Drama, Art and a portfolio submission. The program accepts 32 merit selected students for the start of Year 7.
Visit the SVAPA Newsletter page for the latest edition as well as back issues.
