School School Board Parent Nomination Statements 2025/26

The following parents have nominated themselves for a position on the School Board.

Ajang, David

I nominate for this position because I would like to contribute to the direction of the school representing the views of the parents.  I see this role as privilege position in the sense that it would allow me to contribute into the running of a school my daughter loves. However, I also see the role as challenging as one has to represent the views of a diverse group of people (parents).  I believe I can bring into this role a community engagement perspective.

Campbell, Janet

I'm Janet Campbell, parent to a year eight student and my younger child will join MLSHS in 2026. I'm nominating for school board membership as I'm keen to contribute my skills, experience and interest in the local community to support MLSHS. I believe great schools come from strong direction and governance and help foster community.

I'm a manager in government relations for a leading resources company in Perth and have worked in corporate affairs, communications and strategic planning, with experience in leadership, budget and risk management.  I've helped develop business strategic objectives and implemented tangible actions. My professional role requires engagement with many stakeholders – which would be an important asset in an environment, working with students, teachers, parents and the community to make informed decisions.

I have previously served on the Highgate Primary School P&C Committee supporting fundraising projects and events. I'm seeking a board position as I want to contribute to longer-term projects, advise on strategic direction and participate in successful school outcomes.

As relatively new parent at MLSHS, I can bring a fresh perspective, coupled with my professional experience.

I would be delighted to serve on the MLSHS board and help shape a strong future for the school.

Kogon, Valentina

I have one daughter at Mount Lawley Senior High School, with another joining in three years. I have quickly seen the school's positive impact on my daughter's education and well-being. I am keen to contribute my skills and give back by serving on the Board.

I bring nearly a decade of experience in policy development, strategic planning and financial oversight and hold a master's degree in economics. At Western Power, and in previous roles across both the public and private sectors, I have worked on projects requiring stakeholder collaboration, balancing diverse interests to achieve long-term outcomes – key skills in board governance.

Beyond my professional work, I have served as Treasurer for a primary school P&C and the Women in Energy Committee, gaining experience in financial management, governance and community engagement. To further strengthen my governance expertise, I am completing a not-for-profit governance program.

I am confident that my strategic mindset, communication skills and passion for community will allow me to contribute meaningfully to the Board. I would be honoured to serve and support Mount Lawley Senior High School in shaping a bright future for its students.

Luyer, Nabil

As a dedicated parent, local business owner and experienced governance professional, I am passionate about contributing to Mount Lawley Senior High School's success. I have served on the P&C at two schools, including as President, giving me firsthand experience in advocating for parents, engaging with school leadership, and driving initiatives that benefit students.

With a business analysis, project management, and data-driven decision-making background, I bring a structured yet adaptable approach to problem-solving. My experience across the public and private sectors has given me insight into balancing strategic priorities with practical outcomes. I am particularly focused on ensuring resources are effectively allocated to enhance student learning, well-being, and future opportunities.

Having worked extensively with diverse stakeholders, I value transparency, inclusivity, and constructive dialogue. I am committed to upholding the school's values and helping shape policies that benefit students, parents, and staff. By joining the School Board, I aim to provide a fresh perspective and a solutions-focused approach to support the school's ongoing success.

I would be honoured to represent the parent community and contribute positively to the governance and direction of Mount Lawley Senior High School.

O'Dea, Brad

If given the opportunity in this position, I intend to contribute to the continued success of our students, staff, and broader school community. On a school level, I am currently a member of the MLSHS P&C and have a long history of fundraising and volunteer work with both Inglewood Primary School and Inglewood Pre-Primary.

I believe that strong governance, transparency, accountability and community involvement are essential in shaping a school. My family are involved in numerous community events, including an environmental and sustainability project for the past 4 years, raising money for Inglewood Primary School.

I have extensive experience in financial planning and management, currently holding the position of financial manager for a highly profitable charity event in Perth.

As a Firefighter with DFES (+18 years), I understand the need for professionalism and consistency for public perception and school reputation.

I will act without bias whilst being open to discussion involving change and evaluating performance, with a constant view on improvement.

As MLSHS continues to evolve in line with a changing and more diverse society and student profile, I intend to support MLSHS staff and parents in any way possible.
