Carols on the Lawley Lawn
Held on the first Friday in December each year, Carols on the Lawley Lawn is an opportunity for the school community to share an evening of fellowship with the local community and the communities of our local primary schools.
Since 2008, the Mount Lawley Senior High School community has been joined each year by Mount Lawley Primary School to celebrate the end of the year with a family carols night. Since 2013, we have also been joined by Inglewood Primary School.
The community has been invited to come along with a picnic and enjoy the pre-show entertainment. This has included a series of musical items from the high school's Jazz and Rock Band, as well as soloists.
Kids activities have included face painting, murals, and a bouncy castle.
We have also had a sausage sizzle, coffee, ice cream and juice vans.
The high school's Concert Band, the Choir and SVAPA Choir, along with a choir of primary school students provide the music for our carols program running from 7:00pm to about 8:30pm. We have staging and a large PA system, with microphones on the musicians and the choirs.
The music is predominantly carols, with one or two performance pieces and a visit from Santa included in the program.
We use battery operated LED candles instead of the traditional wax candles.
Over the past years the event has been hosted by Narelda Jacobs, Russell Goodrick and our School Chaplain, Andrew Paul.
Funds raised on the evening have gone to support the Chaplaincy at Mount Lawley Senior High School.
The night is run by a committee involving representatives from the school, primary schools and local churches.
