School Features

Specialist Programs

The school has a focus in Languages, through our Gifted & Talented Education Languages program, which caters for students from across the metropolitan area. Students are able to undertake studies in Italian, Korean, French, Japanese and Chinese.

The school also offers a Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program to students in the school boundary and neighbouring regions. Students in this program study in the areas of Music, Visual Arts, Drama and Media Studies programs on offer.

 

Information Technology

We are a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) school. In recent years, extensive learning opportunities have been introduced for students to acquire computer knowledge and skills. As a result, the school has introduced many innovative ways of using Information Technology to enhance the teaching and learning process. Student learning is supported by a wireless network throughout the campus.

 

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

Mount Lawley Senior High School offers a wide range of learning opportunities through an impressive range of extra-curricular activities that enrich and broaden the learning experience for students. This includes sports, leadership opportunities, peer support, mentoring, community service, our Bush Ranger Cadet Unit and international exchange.

 

Parent & Community Involvement

A major strength of the school community is its strong links and partnerships with parents and the broader community. Parents continue to play a key role in planning for the future and participate in all aspects of school life.

 

Links with our Neighbour - Edith Cowan University

The school has established a Memorandum of Understanding with Edith Cowan University that has resulted in links for students to the WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Jazz & Contemporary Music and Classical Music, School of Education (biotechnology and ICT) and the School of Contemporary Arts (Theatre). The school and University also share the Sport & Fitness Centre and car park.

New and innovative programs have also been established that enable students to link to TAFE studies and workplace learning.
