We are a large ‘inner city' high school that operates with a Middle School for students in Years 8 & 9 and a Senior School for Years 10, 11 and 12.
The School offers specialist programs in Languages other than English (LOTE); Specialist Visual & Performing Arts (SVAPA) and Music . We have extensive links with Edith Cowan University (ECU), especially in the Arts, Health & Physical Exercise and teacher education. Links have been developed with the TAFE sector through certificate courses and structured workplace learning. With the recent completion of a $40 million plus building program the School now has some of the best educational facilities in Western Australia . They have been designed to provide the very best of learning environments which meet the different needs of middle school and senior school students.
A key feature of the School is its active partnerships with parents and the community. Parents are encouraged to be involved on many levels. They can nominate as a parent representative on the School Council , contribute to the Parents & Citizens Association (P&C), be involved in the active parents support groups for the Music and Specialist Visual & performing Arts Program (SVAPA ) or be part of the Middle School parents group. Most parent groups meet a couple of times each term, and the gatherings usually last about 90 minutes. The P&C runs an email list to keep parents informed and more information is available on the P&C page .
The School conducts regular reporting sessions on student performance. In addition, parents are encouraged to contact their child's teacher to discuss any concerns about their education. The administrative staff will be happy to provide parents with contact details for individual teaching staff.
Sometimes you might feel that an issue hasn't been dealt with as you would have wished. The School takes complaints seriously and has a process in place to deal with them. Please check for the details from this link .
You can find key dates for the term by viewing the Calendar and can keep up to date with activities in the School by accessing the on-line versions of the newsletter and the fortnightly flyer . Also available for your information are the school rules , the current dress code and daily start and finish times and the term dates .
